English workshops for secondary schools in Barcelona

Cook, act, code. In English

Interactive workshops and classes for primary and secondary schools, focused on actively using the language. MasterChef-style cooking, drama, robotics, crafts and science experiments, all in English and with native teachers.

They can run all year round as a lunchtime or afternoon after-school activity. More than 15 years doing it.

Creative workshops

Five different disciplines, all entirely in English.

Disruptive method

The language is used, not studied. And at that age it’s the only way.

We adapt

Whatever the group’s level or age, the workshop adapts.

Three ways to fit it in

The quote depends on the workshop, the number of groups and the length. We’ll send it to you with no obligation.

Cooking workshop in English

Inspired by shows like MasterChef, it’s our students’ favourite workshop. Participants prepare recipes following instructions in English, and along the way they pick up vocabulary and expressions that stick because they’re linked to something concrete: measuring, cutting, mixing, waiting. And then they taste what they’ve made, which is the best motivation there is to get a teenager to take part.

Drama workshop in English

Drama builds language skills and confidence in equal measure, which is exactly what’s missing at that age. Students dive into improv games, performances and creative activities, and end up speaking English in front of others without the pressure of doing it in a conventional class. It’s the workshop with the most noticeable impact on speaking.

Robotics workshop in English

Technology hooks them, and here we use it as an excuse. Students build and program robots, solve challenges and work in teams, with all the instructions and communication in English. They improve their technical vocabulary and their ability to explain a process, one of the hardest things to achieve in a language classroom.

Crafts workshop in English

Creative activities where students practise the language while exploring different art techniques and working with a variety of materials. As well as vocabulary and expressions, the workshops develop concentration, attention and teamwork. It works especially well with students who freeze when they have to speak without their hands busy.

Science experiments workshop in English

Hands-on, surprising experiments with scientific vocabulary in English. Students explore real principles, from mixing substances to triggering chemical reactions, and have to describe what they observe and predict what will happen. It’s the workshop that fits best with schools that already teach subjects in English or work on projects.

Your most frequent questions.

Common questions from schools about our English workshops. If you have any others, write to us and we’ll answer with no obligation.

Which English workshops do you offer to schools?
The five most requested are cooking, drama, robotics, crafts and science experiments. If you need another discipline, tell us: our range is wider and we also build tailored proposals.
Are the workshops for primary or secondary?
For both stages, although drama, robotics and experiments work especially well with secondary students. What changes between stages is the complexity of the challenge and the level of independence, not the format.
When are they held?
We offer them all school year as a lunchtime or afternoon after-school activity. We also run one-off workshops for special days or themed weeks.
How much does a workshop cost?
It depends on the workshop, the number of groups, the length and whether it's a one-off workshop or a year-long after-school activity. Tell us what you have in mind and we'll send you a quote with no obligation.
How many students can a group have?
We work with after-school groups of all sizes. Tell us how many students there are and we'll adjust the approach and the number of teachers.
Do students need a good level of English?
No, and that's the point. Whatever the level or age, we adapt the workshop. Because the activities are hands-on, students understand from context what to do even if their level is low.
Who runs the workshops?
Native English teachers or teachers with an equivalent level, with extensive experience working with children and teens. We choose them carefully: they're creative, adapt to each learning style and really get involved in the session.
Are the workshops entirely in English?
Yes. The whole session is in English, which is what makes the language something you use rather than study.
Do you come to the school?
Yes, we come to your primary or secondary school with the materials. We can also welcome groups at our centre at Aragó 119 if you'd rather take the activity outside school.
Can we book a single workshop to try it?
Yes. Many schools start with a one-off workshop and, if it works, turn it into an after-school activity the following year.
What materials are needed?
We usually provide them. What we need from the school is a suitable space, which varies by workshop: cooking and robotics have different requirements from drama. It's all detailed in the quote.
Can you coordinate with the parents' association?
Yes. We work with both the school management and parents' associations, depending on how the after-school activity is organised in each case.
