However, we assure you that after reading this article you will find it much easier to understand them. Shall we start?<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">What are quantifiers?<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> <strong>Quantifiers<\/strong> are words that are used to say how much of something there is. In other words, they provide an answer to the question &#8220;how many&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"> <strong>We must<\/strong> always <strong>place them before nouns<\/strong> for sentences to make full grammatical sense. However, using one quantifier or another will depend on whether it is a countable or uncountable noun.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some &#8211; Any<img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/funtalk.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/cuantificadores-gramatica.jpg\" alt=\"grammatical quantifiers\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 400px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 400\/400;\"><noscript><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright \" src=\"https:\/\/funtalk.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/cuantificadores-gramatica.jpg\" alt=\"grammatical quantifiers\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\"><\/noscript><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Some<\/strong> and <strong>any<\/strong> are used to express indeterminate quantities of a noun, since we do not know or do not want to specify an exact number. Both quantifiers are used to refer to &#8220;<strong>some<\/strong>&#8220;, but not excessive.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We use them for plural and uncountable countable nouns.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Some: we use it in interrogatives and affirmations.<\/span><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">I have some apples.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Would you like some milk?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Any: we use it in negative and interrogative sentences.<\/span><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">I haven&#8217;t received any letters.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Are there any changes?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Much &#8211; Many<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">We use both quantifiers to express a <strong>large quantity<\/strong>. We usually use them for negations and interrogatives. However, they can be used in affirmative sentences when there is a formal context.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Much: we use it with uncountable nouns.<\/span><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">I don&#8217;t have much time.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">How much money do you have?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Many: we use it for plural countable nouns.<\/span><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">How many cats do you have?<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">There are not many tourists.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">A lot &#8211; Lots of<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Both quantifiers refer to the word &#8220;<strong>many<\/strong>&#8221; in affirmative sentences. We can use these quantifiers with countable and uncountable nouns. In the case of none, we can use it with a noun, as an answer to a question.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">No:<\/span><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">There are no pencils.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">None:<\/span><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">How many pens are there? None.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Few &#8211; A few<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Both quantifiers are used to express <strong>little quantity<\/strong>, just like little and a little. However, they can only be used with countable nouns. Few reflects quantity negatively, while a few reflects quantity positively.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Few:<\/span><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">There are few tourists in there.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">A
